In an effort to quiet and chill out my mind when I’m trying to go to sleep, I found this playlist on Spotify (“Late Night Vibes”).
The very first song that played one particular evening last month was “Lost in the Light” by Bahamas.

I have no real knowledge about this band besides what I googled about 10 minutes ago, and only then did I learn that this is a single artist by the name of Alfie Jurvanen and he’s from Canada.
Why did I pick this song to highlight? It just kind of hits me in the feels and I love it. It’s about a relationship that has run its course and is pretty tough, but parting with respect? I could be completely wrong and that’s fine. Perception is reality, am I right?
Stand out lyrics?
“So if someone could help me now, they’d help you too
They’d help you to
See you through
All the hard things we’ve all gotta do
‘Cause this life is long
And so you wouldn’t be wrong
Bein’ free you and me on my own”
There’s this simplicity to the instruments used and this incredibly beautiful incorporation of background, choir-style vocals. It is a sloooooow jam, but man, it’s a good one. It’s definitely made me want to check out more of his work.
So, yeah, “Late Night Vibes” for the win in my book.
